Happy, happy Women's Month! We're celebrating all throughout March by profiling a handful of badass women who we love to collaborate with, and taking you inside their fabulous, colorful homes :)
First up - the captivating chanteuse, Molly Burch.
Tell us about you! How did you get into music?
I'm Molly Burch - I'm a singer songwriter living in Los Angeles. I started singing when I was a little girl and then studied Jazz in college. After I graduated I started writing and recording music and I've been doing that ever since!
Tell us about your creative process. Where do you find inspiration?
My creative process ebbs and flows. I can go months without writing a song and then all of a sudden I'll write a whole album! I draw inspiration from personal experiences and other music I love. Sometimes it can be hard to find inspiration, especially now that songwriting is my job. To combat writer's block, I try to push myself and try new ways of writing even if it's out of my comfort zone. I am constantly learning and never want to stop!
What's one piece of advice you always go back to when it comes to your career?
My whole family is in the movie business, so it's really wonderful to be able to turn to all of them when I need support. They all understand what it's like to pursue a creative job. My dad has really helped me in regards to riding the emotional waves of the business. He told me once that there will always be ups and downs, to keep trying, and the goal is to be comfortable with that process. I think about that all of the time.
What makes a space feel like a home?
I've lived in many spaces with my boyfriend Dailey. We both love moving, nesting, rearranging furniture, thrifting, etc. This is cheesy but when we're together any space we're in feels like a home!
As a creative, what's your best tip for achieving a sense of balance in your home?
My space has to be clean or else I can't focus on anything creative. And I'll always carve out a space to work on music. For example - we just moved to LA, to a 1 bedroom apartment, and our Wurlitzer is in our kitchen!
What are some of your home essentials?
Warm lighting, my TV, candles & incense, and a cozy bed.
What are you looking forward to in 2023?
Putting out new music ;)
